Owner & Lead Stylist
Carmen is the owner of Dead Swanky with 26 years of experience in the hair industry, including 16 years working in South Africa. Her international background has shaped her expertise across a wide range of hair types and techniques.
She specialises in precision cutting, bespoke colouring, smoothing treatments, and professional hair extensions, always prioritising hair health and personalised results.
Before acquiring Dead Swanky, Carmen worked as an educator, teaching NVQ Level 2 and Level 3 at a local academy and helping develop the next generation of stylists.
Today, she brings together education, experience, and craftsmanship to deliver exceptional hair in a professional, welcoming space.
I started as a Saturday girl at just 14, when I realised I had a true passion for hair. I went on to Ware College to study hairdressing and never looked back. I’ve been part of the Dead Swanky team for over 18 years, spending much of that time specialising as a colour technician, completing my Wella Masters degree alongside numerous advanced courses. Over the last three years, I’ve also focused on cutting, completing a Vidal Sassoon course. Hairdressing has always been my passion—I love building relationships with my clients, having a great chat, and making people feel amazing.

I’m Ellie, a graduate stylist with a love for hairdressing that started when I was young, spending every spare moment playing with hair after school. I began with a Saturday job before starting my apprenticeship during lockdown in 2020 and qualified in March 2022. I love variety—blondes, creative colours, tints, layered and creative cuts—and I’m always up for trying something new. I’m fully qualified in nano and tape extensions and love chatting through styles that make you feel like you. New and returning clients always welcome.

I’m a hair stylist with a passion for natural, wearable hair and bright, beautifully blended blondes. I love creating everything from sharp bobs to long, flowing cuts, finished with soft curls, waves, or textured blowdries. My goal is effortless hair that feels as good as it looks. When I’m not in the salon, I’m usually out walking, camping, cooking, or spending time with dogs.

Hi, I’m Sienna! I’m heading into my second year of my hairdressing apprenticeship and I’ve loved everything about hair from a young age. I’m super passionate about making people feel confident and happy when they leave my chair and can’t wait to see where my hair journey takes me. When I’m not in the salon, I love spending time with friends and family and enjoying every moment. I can’t wait to welcome you into my chair 🤍

Hi, I’m Teasha! I chose hairdressing as a career because I love making people feel great about themselves. My favourite part of hairdressing is men’s hair and short cuts, and I’m currently nearly finished my Level 2 training to become a qualified hairdresser. Outside the salon, I love staying active at the gym, swimming, and heading to festivals whenever I can. I can’t wait to welcome you into my chair and help you feel your best 🤍
